This is just a simple blog where I share my thoughts and experiences with the SAAB 9-5. The majority of what is posted here is my opinion.
I own a white 2000 SAAB 9-5 2.3t with automatic transmission and 93k miles on it. I purchased the car in the fall of 2006 with 60k miles on it.
I only recommend products and merchants I have used. I post how-to instructions for SAAB 9-5 maintenance and projects (these are things I have really done myself and are here for anyone who may be attempting the same project). I share my impressions on all sorts of topics, give my opinion, and I am always careful to site the sources of any figures and facts I post.
I am by no means an expert, especially on topics outside of my personal experiences. But I am always happy to receive feedback, input, questions, or requests for clarification. I would suggest doing this by posting a comment in the specific thread because there are likely other people with similar questions or suggestions as you. This will improve the flow of information on the website; I figure there are other people out there that might be better able to help you and they can then reply too.
SAAB is very new to me, but I was raised in a car family. My parents rallied their 1970 240z with the SCCA back in the 70s and 80s. My father raced Formula-V before that. I spend most evenings in middle school with my dad in the garage while we worked on his 1949 Willies Overland Jeepster. In high school I wrecked the family’s Thunderbird SC while racing dad on his Buell S2T motorcycle (he won, the car was put back together). There is then over a decade of non-automotive-centric time where I grew up, started a career, got married, and now I have picked up the wrench again.
Please keep the conversations intelligent and respectful to me and any other commenters. I like an old fashioned flame war and OMG-internets drama as much as the next person, but this is not the place for it.

I am getting ready to tackle the brake on my 2003 Saab 95. Do have any words of wisdom or is it as simple as most cars? Any help would be apprecieated.
Thanks,

I’ve been lucky enough that the brakes on 9-5 were serviced just prior to me buying it. So I have no firsthand experience. I’ve heard that the brake pistons can get sticky on the 9-5, but that it usually shows up as pulling to one side when braking. I’ve also heard that the pads go on easy enough, and to just be sure the springs are seating correctly when you reinstall them.
Good luck.
Hey there,
I just wanted to drop by and leave you a nice Thank you for the information that you have up here. I had the AC 0—–08 code and purchased the reinforced 25$ titanium part. I took apart the stepper motor like you stated and it works flawlessly now. This saved me so much money. Also, looking at your other stuff is very interesting. I am a Saab owner for life and I think I am going to go after a 97x here in the next year after I am out of college. If you wish to get back to me please reply to bucklib@gmail.com.
Thanks again!!!
